Hi, I'm a final year student currently undergoing a final year project about lower arm suspension. I'm still new to this software and I'm hoping that you guys can help. After I've optimized my lower arm suspension by minimization of its mass, it says design violation and it had shown me my original factor Of Safety 2.1. Does it mean it needs to be higher or lower? Or did I do something wrong in applying the force?

Hello,

Here are a few tips to help you with your model:

  • We recommend that you do not apply loads and supports directly on design space but separate your part in 2 regions (design space and non-design space) and apply your loads on non-design space
  • You should run an analysis of your original design and check the safety factor on this one. If your safety factor on the original part is already below your objective safety factor then optimization will likely fail.

It's only one part and when I click design space it would automatically select the surface of the whole part instead of some certain area. Is there any function that can split the part or I need to redesign the part in order to separate it?

You must increase your design space.
In your current setup there is no room to take material away.
That's why there is a design violations: even with a completely filled design space, the part is not strong enough.
